This penguin hugged my mom! They’re on a Natgeo trip to Antarctica right now. Here’s how my dad described it in an email:
“It is around 11 am here and we just got back from a zodiac ride around Paradise Bay. As we were sitting in the zodiac an Adelie Penguin suddenly jumped into our boat, then rubbed mom’s leg (i.e., “hugged mom”), then jumped out again, then jumped back in! Our naturalist thinks that he was escaping from a Leopard Seal who was trying to eat him. This is a very unusual occurrence, and right now we are the “celebrities” of the voyage (there were eight of us on the zodiac).”
